Summer Season – Important update!
We are excited to announce that team lists for the upcoming basketball season have been finalised and will be posted to the website in the coming days! We appreciate your patience and support throughout the grading process, which is quite comprehensive.
Team Selection Process
The team selection process involves multiple steps, involving:
grading
feedback from coaches about the past season
team balance – ensuring a variety of height and skill in each team, where possible
a meeting of our dedicated Team Selection Committee, in collaboration with the College.
Given the careful consideration that has gone into this process, we want to emphasize that there will be no further movements or team changes, except in exceptional circumstances and any such requests will need to be approved by the Sport Department at the College.
The summer season lasts for 10 weeks and is an opportunity for players to showcase their skills, particularly where players have moved up an age group. The Team Selection Committee will review player performance during this time, along with coach feedback, to inform decisions about Winter teams in 2025.
What we need from you
We encourage parents or carers to talk with your boy about the importance of using this summer season to excel in their assigned team – emphasising the significance of listening to their coach and being a supportive, team-oriented player to enhance a positive team environment.
For any inquiries or feedback regarding individual players, please refer to the policies and FAQs available on our website before reaching out to the Club.
When a coach and manager has been found for your team, they will be in contact with parents or carers about the upcoming season – we appreciate your patience with this.
Volunteers needed
As a reminder, Marist Basketball is run primarily by parent volunteers, and we are currently experiencing a particularly busy period.
The Club will now look to finalise coaches and managers for each team. We cannot enter a team without a coach and a manager so please volunteer!
When a coach and manager has been found for your team, they will be in contact with parents or carers about the upcoming season, including training times and game information – we appreciate your patience with this. The training times will be available in the coming weeks here: Summer Training Times (maristbasketball.com)
Thank you for your understanding and support as we embark on another exciting basketball season. Together, we can foster a positive experience for all players and build a strong community.
